Whether you are hoping for that first pick-me-up cup of coffee in the morning or the comforting cup of tea before settling down for the night, one of the first things many people look for in a hotel room or cruise ship cabin is the kettle and hot drink facilities. However different liners have different kettle facilities in cabins, which we explore here:
Azamara
Azamara does not have kettles in their cabins and is quite strict in its prohibition of travel kettles for safety reasons.
Alternative – All Azamara cruises do offer room service with full tea and coffee menus.

Captain Cook Cruises
Suites and cabins aboard Captain Cook Cruise ships do include kettles and even coffee plungers (French presses) for the discerning coffee lover.

Celebrity Cruises
As of the date of writing only the Celebrity Eclipse and Infinity have kettles and hot drinking making facilities in the rooms.
Alternative – The comprehensive room service includes hot drink delivery.

Cunard Cruises
Cunard Cruises do not provide kettles in their cabins and are strict in their prohibition of travel kettles as they cannot guarantee they are PAT-tested.
Alternative – All Cunard ships offer complimentary tea and coffee delivery services.

MSC Cruises
Like Cunard Cruises, MSC does not provide kettles in the cabin and strictly do not allow passengers to take a travel kettle.
Alternative – As well as room service, the main buffet service aboard the ships have recently extended their opening times to 20 hours a day – meaning you can take a late-night stroll for a cuppa.

Orion Expedition Cruises
The only member of the fleet, the MV Orion, does not come equipped with tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Alternative – The small, 12 suite ship means you are never far from hot drink making facilities. The dedicated staff are also always on hand to help in any way they can.

P&O Australia Cruises
Unlike the British-American branch of P&O Cruises, there are no tea and coffee making facilities in cabins aboard P&O Australia’s fleet.
Alternative – Passengers can call for room service for coffee and tea. There is the option to organise a set time for delivery, meaning you can wake up to room service.

Princess Cruises
Princess Cruises do not provide kettles in the cabins of any of the 18 ships in the fleet and do not permit travel kettles to be brought on board.
Alternative – The 24-hour room service on lido decks offers hot drinks any time of the day.

Royal Caribbean
Like their competitor, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean does not provide kettles in the standard cabins. However, suites do come complete with coffee maker, tea kettle, Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea.
Alternative – Cabin passengers have access to the comprehensive room service menu at any time of the day.

Silversea Cruises
Silversea Cruises do not provide kettles in the cabins and strongly prohibit bringing travel kettles aboard.
Alternative – The room service is available 24 hours a day and tea and coffee are always complimentary with the service.
