5 New Cruise Ships That Are Sailing This Year

New year, new cruise! The next twelve months are set to bring with them a wave of new cruises from some of our favourite lines.

Replete with innovative new technologies and itineraries that venture to new, exciting ports you may well have never visited, we’ll run through the best of them right here. Time to start planning your next cruise, your new favourite ship could well be in the list below.

Symphony of the Seas

Set to be the world’s largest cruise ship when it’s delivered in April, Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas is a technological marvel, furnished with innovative, experience-enriching features that put it leagues ahead of the rest of the line’s fleet.

As well as a 10-storey, 100ft Ultimate Abyss waterslide, robotic bartenders and themed ‘neighbourhoods’ full of character and personality, Symphony also features brand-new innovations never seen on any other Royal Caribbean ships, including two new types of accommodation.

First, the Ultimate Family Suite is a colourful, fun-filled area for the kids – and kids at heart, while the Royal Suite Class sets a new standard of luxury, with three tiers that guarantee exclusivity, inclusivity, and a new level of personalised service you won’t have ever experienced before.

Majestic Princess

The largest Princess ship to sail in Australian waters, the Majestic Princess will hold over 3,500 guests across a range of locations, including Europe and China, before it will call Sydney its homeport from September 2018 to March 2019.

Along the way, Majestic will call at ports in Fiji, New Zealand and Tasmania, as well as voyages to Shanghai and Hong Kong. Other exciting additions abound too, including two dining options with menus designed by Richard Chen and Emmanuel Renaut, Michelin-star chefs famed for their precision and prowess. Here, you’ll be able to sample Richard’s fresh takes on Cantonese dishes as well as French bistro fare in a lively, sophisticated environment.

Carnival Horizon

The line that loves to have fun have always prided themselves on not taking things too seriously, and Horizon, launching early in the year, is no different. The near 4,000-guest ship features a waterpark designed in conjunction with Dr Seuss Enterprises, replete with larger-than-life replicas of The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and 2 and the Grinch, as well as Seuss’ distinctive red and white striping to the slides. When Carnival turn on the waterworks, you’ll know about it.

The fun doesn’t stop at the top deck either. A full Imax movie screen will be onboard, the second-ever at sea, while a menu stocked with Guy Fieri-curated treats and flashy, theatrical Teppanyaki food is sure to delight.

Havana staterooms also make an appearance. Like having your own island resort, these exclusive abodes feature spacious accommodation situated next to the Havana Bar & Pool, a members-only area that’s perfect for soaking up the sun. With itineraries planned for Barcelona and the Caribbean, there’s never been a better way to explore new parts of the world.

Norwegian Bliss

Set to sail in 2018, Norwegian Bliss promises to be a voyage of awe, discovery and exhilaration. From the Caribbean to Alaska, Bliss opens up a world of new experiences on the waters, including racing on the largest racetrack at sea, a pulse-pounding aqua park and thrilling games of laser tag on the top deck.

If you prefer things on the relaxed side, then there’s plenty to unwind with, too. The Mandara Spa offers a wealth of treatments, including hot stone massages, a salt room to reinvigorate your skin and more. Why not splash out on The Haven, a hidden retreat that affords you a 24-hour butler and all the privacy you could want?

And as the sun sets, Bliss comes alive with spectacular entertainment from the likes of the blockbuster musical Jersey Boys, Happy Hour Prohibition – The Musical and tributes to legendary music groups such as The Beatles and Frankie Valli.

With excitement and relaxation around every corner, Bliss is a ship that tailors every aspect of your holiday just the way you like it.
